Job searches can last quite a long time. During this time, we may feel discouraged, exhausted, and run down as an unemployed person. What can we do during our search to remain not only positive about our future but feel accomplished while we wait to hear back? This online discussion will provide ideas of what to do during a lengthy job search as well as self-care to keep us feeling good. Join us and share your stories about job searching and waiting to finally exhale (and get paid)!

This online discussion will occur synchronously using Blackboard Collaborate, a web conferencing software. You will enter this session as a participant, which gives the ability to use audio, chat, and video functions. For more details and technical assistance, please see the NMRT Notes blog: http://www.nmrt.ala.org/notes/?p=583. Thanks, and we hope that you join us!

Election Time is Upon Us!

The American Library Association holds elections every year for the various offices held throughout the association. The 2016 elections will open on March 15 and close on April 22. ALA members in good standing as of January 31, 2016 will be sent their voting credentials via email between March 15-18. For further information about ALA elections, please see http://www.ala.org/aboutala/governance/alaelection. If you are a member of ALA’s New Members Roundtable, your ALA election ballot will include candidates for the NMRT Executive Board.

Not sure who to vote for? All candidates for the NMRT Executive Board have responded to online forum questions, which are available here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nPJ8KHNE02DdNeSzzdhDMgmhHfXFO6RiisN0O4IyiDs/edit

We hope that you will vote in the NMRT elections!

Headliners Submissions – Share your achievements with NMRT!

Would you like to receive recognition for a recent accomplishment such as starting a new job, getting published, presenting at a recent conference, or receiving a promotion or an award? You could be featured on the NMRT blog (NMRT Notes) alongside your fellow LIS students and new library professionals who are also doing awesome things!

We are accepting submissions for Headliners, which should be a brief 1-2 sentence description of a recent accomplishment(s) in the library and information science field. You can view examples from the most recent issue. Headliners were previously published in NMRT Footnotes, but will now be moved to the blog for more timely access to relevant content, and a better format for a broader audience.

To have your announcement included in the upcoming NMRT Notes post, email Casey McCoy at camccoy90@gmail.com by Wednesday, March 23. Include “Headliners” in the subject line.
